Did Hurricane Sandy save lives?

Added on by Leon Jacobs.

39 people died in the New York State area as a result of Hurricane Sandy (technically downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it made landfall).

The average number of deaths per day in New York is around 150.

Did less people die as a result of more people staying at home and being more alert?

Obviously there were also deaths during this period from natural causes, but it would be fascinating if the storm actually meant the death rate for this period dropped.
